The Wilsonton Community Art Gallery was established in response to the feedback received from our local community, indicating a significant demand for a community-focused art space. The existing large galleries in Toowoomba primarily catered to professional artists with large exhibitions, leaving a gap for local artists and emerging talent. In 2014, a group of dedicated volunteers from the Heights Community Centre joined forces with the cooperation of the Wilsonton Shopping Centre to create a non-profit, volunteer-run art gallery right within the shopping center. This collaboration allowed the Wilsonton Community Art Gallery to come to life, providing a platform for artists of all backgrounds to showcase their work and enrich the cultural landscape of our community.

Chain Reaction Qld started out as a hobby, not intended as a business at all. With interests in beaded jewellery and silversmithing as a hobby I was looking to source different suppliers for variety and pricing that wasn't currently available. Often friends dropping in for a coffee with similar interest would ask - Do you have a spare strand of these beads? Do you think you could find these for me? We individually hand sculpt the basic character and counterweights (head, face, hands and feet) from raku clays fired to stoneware temperature; everything else is from found objects and up-cycled materials. As a result, we keep our prices low enough to offset the time and labour involved, charging little to nothing for the 'art' and so selling direct to the public at an accessible wholesale cost. Our marionettes are very easy to use. They are designed to have excellent movement and can be used by absolutely anybody from the age of 4 up!
