I love to sew, particularly dressmaking. It is a passion that I like to share. I have been sewing since I was about 10 years old. I enjoy many aspects of sewing including clothing for myself and my family, home decor items, costumes, patchwork and quilting, lingerie, and machine embroidery. I enjoy teaching.​ I hold Diplomas in Dressmaking, and Pattern Making & Drafting with the Brisbane Dressmaking Academy. I am also a Palmer Pletsch Fit teacher. Over the years I have undertaken numerous TAFE and sewing classes. I am a member of the Australian Sewing Guild Scenic Sewers - Beaudesert group which meets here. There are groups Australia wide. Previously I ran a made to order lingerie business with Mum, and owned and operated Beaudesert Sewing Centre/Fabric Patch and Scenic Blinds for 11 years with my husband Mark. I still run my blinds business as Blinds by Wendy. Blinds by Wendy services Beaudesert & surrounding areas with medium priced, good quality, made to measure blinds for all your windows. ​In October 2015 we embarked upon a new venture and purchased The Old Laravale School just south of Beaudesert, in the picturesque Scenic Rim. Sewing With Wendy operates from my dedicated Studio, The Audrey Room, in the former school library. The school is also used for community groups and the like including The Scenic Rim Astronomy Assoc, Scrapbookers & Cardmakers, Scenic Sewers Group of the Australian Sewing Guild, and two film crews which was very exciting to be involved in. We spent 18 months working on accommodation for small groups. The Old Laravale School has been hosting sewing, quilting & papercraft retreats since Februray 2021. Life is always busy at The Old Laravale School.

We take enormous pride in our fully personalised service, which we achieve by employing drivers who are not only fully trained professionals with Queensland Government licences / approvals, but who understand what customer care really means and are courteous, thoughtful and flexible. Our vehicles can seat up to 7 passengers and have leather seats, tinted electric windows, electric opening doors, climate control air-conditioning and 240V power (for laptops and chargers). We provide bottled water and large screen in car movies (for the children) with wireless headsets are available on request. Established in 1993, Wood Mulching Industries (WMI) is owned by the North family with operations based in Swanbank, Queensland, Australia. Our 70 hectares facility is managed to the strictest environment controls and is equipped with state of the art technology for processing and manufacturing. Undertaking his duty a National Serviceman as an Army Engineer in the 1960’s John found his calling in operating equipment and earthworks. Post service, John continued to work with machines and managed to build up a small earthmoving business. In the late 1980’s John saw an opportunity and went to America to work with a revolutionary wood grinding process. During this time John saw compost production, how it was utilised and how it could be adapted in Australia. Seizing the opportunity to bring the technology into Australia, John bought the Australian rights and started a wood mulching and grinding company. From only one grinder which also acted as a demonstration unit, John started Wood Mulching Industries. Adapting the lessons learnt in America, WMI continued to grow and John became a pioneer in Australia’s recycled organic industry. In 1993, John relocated his operations onto the sleepy backblocks of Ipswich and established the present WMI site. Today WMI employs over 20 staff, processes over 200,000 tons of materials and is a leader in Australian Recycled Organic Processing. Apart from recycled organics, WMI also produces washed sand and aggregates. Handing the daily operations of his business over to his three sons Tyler, Chaye and Dustyn; John takes on a more strategic approach within the business.
