Riders need to develop acceleration, speed, balance and an ability to respond quickly, in order to get around the track in the shortest possible time. You can head down to the Sunshine Coast BMX club on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening (from about 6pm) to watch some exciting racing and get an idea of what the sport involves.
