About Bowen Therapy Bowen Therapy is named after the Australian man who created the technique in the 1950's. With no formal bodywork training Tom Bowen created a series of gentle soft tissue moves performed on the body on specific muscles, joints, nerve points and tendons which were able to relieve his clients of pain and imbalance within a few short treatments. He began a part time clinic alongside his 9-5 job and this quickly grew into a full-time practice for him.
