Basically, it brings your body back to balance by remembering your old body memory – the one that used to be pain-free and mobile. Bowen Therapy is a very solid and physical practice of pain management practised worldwide applying small, specific manipulations to the muscles and tendons. It is not considered massage and can be done through light clothing, there are regular pauses between muscle manipulations to enable the body time to reset and heal itself – these are very important for your body to heal. The way a person relaxes into the treatment, breathes deeply, and allows the body to readjust itself to a more balanced state is something quite unique in the bodywork world. I have found that gentle exercises aid the healing process and help improve the body memory, I call these exercises ‘mini Bowens’ because they are very important and effective when used in conjunction with the treatment.
