About
St John the Evangelist Anglican Church is an historical church which was completed in 1878 of brick and stone in a sparing Gothic style by an architect called Edmund Blackett. It was named after John the apostle, who was also known as John the Evangelist. He was one of the first disciples whom Jesus chose, the brother of James, who was also an apostle, and the son of Zebedee a Galilean fisherman, and Salome. He was known for his zeal and also as a theologian. He was privileged to have written the fourth gospel account of Jesus, also the first, second and third letters of John, and the last book of the Bible, Revelation, a prophetic book, which was written when he was banished to the Island of Patmos. What an inspiring name for our church, to have a zeal to share God’s love to others and have a keen interest in the Bible as John did.1 John 1:5 St John the Evangelist Anglican Church is an historical church which was completed in 1878 of brick and stone in a sparing Gothic style by an architect called Edmund Blackett.
