Amaroo Medical is a purpose-built medical facility established in 2015 at Amaroo Park Estate, Mareeba. (Previously known as Byrnes St Medical Centre). Amaroo Medical has easy access and plenty of parking and boasts 6 modern consulting rooms, a two-bed treatment room and a state-of-the-art procedure room. Our Doctors include: Dr Cheryl Harnischfeger, Dr Sian Moore, Dr Lyndel Cahill, Dr Akil Islam and Dr Linda Abenthum. We also train Registrars and Medical Students from JCU, so you may see them in the Practice from time to time. Our team also includes Practice Nurses, Medical Assistants and Receptionists to assist you with your health needs. The office is open from 8:30am to 5pm Monday-Friday with late night clinics on Mondays and Thursdays, when we are open until 8.00pm. We run an appointment system, but keep some spaces to fit in urgent problems. Please phone the office on 4092 5900 at 8:30am to schedule an emergency appointment. Appointments are booked at 15-minute intervals, so you can expect to spend 10-15 minutes with the doctor. This may change if there have been emergencies or if the surgery is very busy. You can phone the surgery before your appointment to check whether we are running on time. If you require a longer appointment for a minor operation, counselling, medical examination or multiple problems, please discuss this with the receptionist before making the appointment. You can also make appointments with the Practice Nurse for blood pressure checks, dressings, suture removal and immunisations. Payment is due at the time of consultation, however, we have a facility called EASYCLAIM so when you pay your bill on the day, your Medicare refund can be paid directly onto your EFTPOS/Debit card or directly into your nominated bank account.
