Leila has been recognized as an outstanding lawyer in her field by being made finalist in 2 categories of the Australian Law Awards 2023. Leila has been a lawyer since 1996. For the first 20 years of her career, she worked as a construction lawyer on major projects of up to $500 million specializing in legal document drafting, workplace education, negotiation and settlement. Leila set up Fixed Cost Family Law to provide straightforward fee structures. She uses the extensive skillset developed on major projects to provide community family law education and assist clients settle sensibly and get out of court. Leila holds a current principal's practising certificate and is a registered practitioner of the High Court. Leila is also a Legalwise presenter providing continuing professional development to other lawyers. Her community legal projects include founder of Family Law 101, Australia's family law education platform supporting more than 10,000 separated parties learn how to navigate the family court system. Leila provides a free helpline to First Nations women experiencing DV in Mt Isa (her home area). Leila is an administrator of a national family lawyers platform which provides support to over one thousand family lawyers across Australia. Leila spends her down time hanging out with her partner, Phil, her horses, Harry and Flirt, her dogs, Ruby and Bella, messing around on the guitar and assisting her teenage boys locate things in the refrigerator.​
