Watkins Electrical was established in 1951 by “Nutty” Watkins, a local sparky who ran the business alongside his wife, with a few employees and the occasional apprentice working with him to serve the local Maryborough community, which was much smaller at the time. Nutty was renowned for his quality service and dedication to perfection, and there’s still plenty of loyal customers we visit that had work done by Nutty himself back in the day. After running the business for nearly three decades, Watkins transferred ownership of the business to one of his employees in 1977, who also ran the business as a husband and wife team until 1997, when he passed the business on to his son, Peter, who worked as an apprentice under both Watkins and his father. Peter, maintaining the business as a husband and wife team, steadily grew the business, taking on another director in 2002.
