Ben began fulltime training with us on 25 November and had a dream run, passing all his exams and only losing four flights due to rain. It’s always hard to get good conditions for doing a first solo and completing the required five hours of solo, but he booked well in advance and was able to get the 7.30am slots. Harrison from Brisbane, convinced his mum to come up to the Unshine Coast all this week for some intensive flight training with the hope of finishing his RPC. Harrison and his instructor, Tom, worked hard to get Harrison’s final lessons and required 5 solo hours completed by yesterday. This morning he managed to successfully undergo his RPC flight test with CFI Dan, before the rain set in. Well done everyone! Next week: Nav training… if the rain moves away.

Elli has been commuting north to Caloundra for flying lessons for around one year now and having to contend with lessons being cancelled due to gusting winds and rain showers. Today Damien booked her a longer period of five hours knowing that we would lose some of that time to rain showers. They had to sit around for 90 minutes in the middle of the day waiting for showers to pass but then this afternoon they got airborne again and Elli passed her RPC flight test. Congratulations!

A year ago, Cameron came to us for his 40+ hours of RAAus Instructor training, with the aim of setting up his own flight school. Cam is very determined and always finds a way to achieve all his goals, including building a new type of plane and raising money for RFDS by setting a record for the highest number of take offs and landings in one day. Each fortnight he commuted to Caloundra for training and then returned to teach for 75 hrs until he was eligible to be a SNR instructor. This month he opened his own school in Chinchilla.
