Over the 30 years I have been working, I have developed a blend of massage types including Swedish and Sports. I believe this reduces pain and discomfort during a massage, while still allowing an effective amount of work to be done. By starting off with Swedish to relax the person and warm up the muscles, tightness and knotting (problem areas) can be found easier. When too strong a massage is used straight off, the muscles contract to protect themselves and the painful knots within. Once the muscles soften up (with the use of heat packs as well) more intense work can be done with less pain and bruising. I like my clients to give me feedback about my pressure throughout the massage, this can prevent (to an extent) after-massage pain. Throughout the massage, I regularly go back to Swedish and draining technique, to ensure the person is as relaxed as possible and lactic acid is continually drained away. I'm also fully qualified in skin care, nutrition, iridology, stretching techniques and injury management. I don't mind discussing problems and will give helpful advice freely while massaging.
