The Black Diamond Football League (BDAFL) was formed at the end of the 1999 season with a combination of clubs from the Central Coast and Newcastle Football Leagues. The league comprises 10 clubs. The premiership trophy in the league is the Black Diamond Cup which was first played for in 1888 and won by the Wallsend Club. The trophy is said to be the oldest Australian sporting trophy still being contested even outdates cricket's Sheffield Shield and is housed in the Newcastle Museum.

Wyong Lakes Magpies Junior AFL club is the second oldest Australian Football Club on the Central Coast, having been established in 1975. Our home grounds is the picturesque Don Small Oval, Wolseley Avenue, Tacoma, ideally located between Tuggerah Lakes and Wyong Creek. Our junior teams play in the Hunter Coast AFL's Central Coast competition. We cater for all ages from 5 to 17 with both boys and girls teams. Our Senior Club plays in the Black Diamond AFL (BDAFL) competition with teams in Black Diamond Plate, 2nd Division and Ladies grades.
