With Hawaiian music all the rage, Martin introduced steel-string guitars for Hawaiian style playing in 1918. All-Koa versions followed in 1920, and the steel-string Style 18 body size with 13-5/8″ lower bout arrived in 1924. This 0-18K serial 33261 dates from the autumn of 1927, one of a total of 475 0-18Ks shipped in that year with X-braced all-Koa body, Mahogany neck with bar frets, Ebony fretboard, Rosewood headstock overlay, Ebony bridge, Maple bridgeplate, no pickguard, 5-ply top binding with outer layer Rosewood, and 9-ply soundhole rosette.

A rare and original Vox AC-30 top boost amp from 1965. With transformer codes dating to May and August 1965, chassis number 12722, and amp serial number 18216, this ‘Grey Panel’ AC30 Tob Boost amp was made in JMI’s West Street Works in Erith, London in the latter part of 1965. Reflecting Vox’s robust design and construction, this classic amp wears its years well and is in excellent working condition, with original transformers and electronics in place, along with its two original 12” Celestion Silver alnico speakers.

Named after Gibson’s home-town in Michigan, in 1933 Gibson created the ‘Kalamazoo’ brand as a budget line to keep the company afloat during the 1930s ‘Depression’ era. This first iteration of Kalamazoos continued on into the WW2 years. The ‘KG-32’ model, is a 16″wide 3-1/4″ deep archtop with solid spruce top and maple back and sides. Interior stamped numbers are obscure but we date this to c. 1938. A noticeably light weight guitar at 4lbs 7oz , the 16″ wide maple body with arched spruce top is braced with a hybrid fan-ladder style. The combination of bracing and light but strong construction
