Baby Ballerinas & Co is a unique pre-school dance program based in Lake Macquarie and Newcastle, NSW Australia. The program was first taught in 2002 and opened with 6 students, by the end of 2005 there were 120 baby ballerinas with classes operating six days per week. The program caters for Baby Ballet and Baby Jazz from 2 to 5 years of age. The immense growth attests to the strength of this program. Baby Ballerinas guide 2 to 5 year olds through creative imagery and role-play rather than the technical approach traditionally associated with ballet. It develops an appreciation of rhythm and timing, music, movement and grace during the most receptive time in their lives. This program also develops gross motor skills, stimulates social interaction and ability to follow instruction and gain confidence to take that first step on stage. Parents can watch these classes. After professional careers in the United States that spanned over a decade, Kristy Tancred & Rider D. Vierling are proud to bring Newcastle Ballet Theatre to the Hunter Region. Newcastle Ballet Theatre will be offering a wide range of classes for tiny tots, to beginners to pre-professionals and adults. In addition to our ACB syllabus and open ballet classes, we will also be offering Boys Classes, Pas de Deux, Contemporary, Jazz/Hip Hop, Pilates, Stretch / Conditioning Tiny Tots ballet, Adult ballet classes and a full time training program designed for the serious student wishing to have a career as a professional dancer or teacher. Our aim is to provide professional training within a creative, caring and challenging environment where every student can flourish.
