Established in 1983, Spectrum Screen Printing Studios is owned and operated by Michael and Kerry Hehir. After Mike had spent ten years working as a qualified screen printer for several high profile companies in Melbourne, and Kerry working as a legal secretary office manager, they decided to move back to their home town of Shepparton and establish their own printing studio. With Mike having had broad experience with the many different techniques and products associated with screen printing, this enabled the rapid development of the company’s product range. The quick turn around and high quality printing that followed soon created a lot of interest in the local offset and advertising industry and within a short time the company was producing contract printing and trade work, and supplying the wider communities of the Goulburn Valley and Country Victoria. In the following years, the company would expand to employ and train the Victorian Apprentice of the Year in 1992 for screen printing and also became a registered member of the Screen Printers Association International. Great artwork, film production and stencil preparation are the key components required for consistent high quality in this medium, and the company invested consistently to keep abreast of the ever changing developments in the graphic arts industry. In 2001 Spectrum expanded its T-Shirt printing department and would go on to win a Silver Medal in The Australasian Image Awards held in Sydney, for the quality of their multi colour printing.
