About
In February 1940 Edge Hill State School opened with thirty-one pupils, a single teacher and one classroom. It was built to meet demand in one of the earliest townships established outside the Cairns Central Business District. The area now known as Edge Hill was used for primary industry and Chinese market gardening and as the population grew so too did the need for a school to meet the learning needs of local families. The original school building still stands proudly despite record wet season deluges, cyclones of all sizes and the threat of war during the Pacific conflicts of WWII. Additional buildings have been added over time, as well as play spaces and amenities. Since its' establishment the school has enjoyed progressive growth and expansion. It is now one of the largest public primary schools in Cairns.

About
Our gorgeous historic school of 230 students, is located in the picturesque village of Yungaburra. Yungaburra, which is situated in the historic heart of the Atherton Tablelands (a little more than an hour’s drive south west of Cairns in Far North Queensland), was established in 1890, and is listed by the National Trust of Queensland. Many of the original buildings can still be seen in the quaint village centre. Our town is not just known for its historical significance. The area is a haven for wildlife. Here you may see platypus, tree kangaroos, wallabies and a large variety of birds. Go on a nice walk along Peterson’s Creek near the town centre and who knows which rare Australian animal you may be lucky enough to see.

About
Our school has served the Millaa Millaa community since 1918. We were once a larger school community in the days when there were prosperous timber, dairy and beef industries in the Millaa Milla area. Our town had mechanics, butchers, a baker and a butter factory. Now our student numbers fluctuate, but on average are approximately 65 pupils. We have a stable rural family core and a small number of families that tend to move from year to year. This produces a school with a wonderful environment where the children have pride in themselves and an appreciation for community values.
