We have provided excellent healthcare to Fraser Coast locals for more than 17 years—with clinics in Hervey Bay Airport, Burrum Heads and Eli Waters. We are a mixed-billing medical centre, accepting both Medicare and concession card holders as well as non-Medicare patients. Fraser Shores Medical Centre is a privately owned AGPAL Accredited General Practice, established in Hervey Bay in 2002. Even then, though the practice was small, it focused on providing trusted and high quality healthcare tailored to the individual patient. Over the years Fraser Shores Medical Centre has continued to expand and now has 5 full-time very experienced GPs with rooms for more, 3 Registered Nurses, 3 Medical Receptionists and a Practice Manager. Specialist General & Laparoscopic Surgeon, Endoscopist. Prior to coming to Australia, Dr Diaz worked as a surgeon in Thailand for 20-odd years. His first post was as a refugee camp surgeon with the U.N.H.C.R. at the Thai-Cambodian border. He later served in a country hospital in Phuket, Southern Thailand, for almost five years. Following rigorous training at Mahidol University in Bangkok, he obtained his qualifications in General Surgery in 1990 and gained membership with the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand (RCST). Subsequently, Dr Diaz served as surgeon and senior administrator at a well-known private hospital in Bangkok until his move to the Fraser Coast in late 2000, where he serves to the present day. He obtained Australian certification in gastro-intestinal endoscopy in 2002 and was granted membership with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2003 and remains an active member of various craft groups. He has maintained his consultant status (part-time) at the public hospital while serving in the private sector the past seven years.
