We offer a range of services such as : Polished Concrete Honed Concrete Surface Preparation Hand Sawing/Cutting Floor Sawing/Cutting Concrete Core Drilling Polished Concrete Polished concrete floors are the ultimate alternative to the traditional hard surface flooring materials and polished concrete floors will outperform any commercial or residential floor coverings. When selecting the process of diamond grinding and polishing the concrete as your floor finish, the benefits are numerous such as natural light reflective properties that help cut energy cost of lighting, and easy to clean, hygienic floor surface. The nice seamless non-patterned texture of polished concrete can sometimes take on the appearance of a granite floor, or often of a natural polished stone finish, or can be ground deeply to create the look of a terrazzo floor finish, for just for a small fraction of the cost of buying these materials. Polished concrete is considered a good sustainable flooring option because it makes use of the materials already present. Most modern buildings are built on a concrete slab, polishing the concrete eliminates the energy and material consumed by applying a floor covering. It is something to consider when building or modernizing towards a more green solution. Polished concrete floors are low-maintenance, as they are more durable and easier to clean than many flooring options. Its relatively high coefficient of friction can make it non-slippery. Polished concrete reduces dust mite and allergen problems, and does not support mould growth. Anecdotal evidence suggests highly reflective polished concrete reduces lighting needs and improves natural lighting, but as yet there has not been a study to confirm this. Polished concrete flooring is hard wearing and will not chip or dent like softer surfaces such as timber. Mopping with warm soapy water once a week is the only maintenance required. A concrete floor that has been hardened and polished will have an extremely long life expectancy compared to other flooring. A polished concrete floor that has been properly maintained may give 100+ years of service. Existing/Established Concrete Existing concrete however, there are a few points which need to be noted and understood by the client. As the concrete was not laid originally with the intention of polishing, it is likely that the floor will display uneven areas of aggregate, show concreting tool marks. These variances can actually be a positive thing and do add to the individuality of the floor, however for clients seeking a uniform spread of aggregate, the possibility of these scenario's needs to be understood and appreciated at the beginning of the project. Honed/2 cut & Seal A Honed or can be referred to as a 2 cut and seal, is an alternate option for the exposed concrete look. There are many options of topical sealers that can be used for the finishing touch such as, water based/solvent based sealers as well as poly-urethane's and epoxy sealers. With most topical sealers the need for re application may vary depending on the traffic it handles. Hand Sawing/ Ring Sawing Hand Sawing/Ring Sawing are mobile 2 stroke hand held applications which allows you reach depth of 150 mm(Hand saw)and 260 mm(ring saw). It can be used horizontally for cuts on walls, additionally it can be a quick solution for a task that requires a little cut. Hand Sawing can be used in many applications, such as: Expansion cutting Penetrations Windows/doors Trimming edges of over pours Trenches (where floor saws can't access) Wall cutting Floor Sawing is commonly used for larger scale applications where high volume of metres is required, or depth past a hand held saw is required. With the ability to cut fast and true, it is the right application for tasks that are generally to big for hand held saws. With a variety of blades to put on the saw, the depth can be suited to the desired cutting depth. Some tasks where floor sawing is often used are: Demolition work,(removal of concrete slabs/pads) Trenches Floor Penetrations Expansion cutting. Core Drilling Core drilling is an application used very frequently in resolving trades services connecting through concrete walls and floors , additionally coring can be used to create a penetrations where Hand sawing/ring sawing or Wall sawing cannot complete the task, commonly referred to as Stitch-drilling. With such a variety of sizes too choose from, the desired hole diameter is generally matched. This application can be used in all locations and can be fixed to the surface via an anchor point or if required that no anchor hole is allowed, a suction pad is used to achieve the result. As this application uses water whilst drilling, slurry control measures are used to minimize mess such as a wet vac and slurry ring. Surface Preparation Surface preparation is a application applied to preparing the proposed surface for the next stage such as sealing/painting/tiling/direct stuck surface products, rain damaged pads/panels and high spots in concrete pads. Effective methods are: Diamond Grinding- Diamond segment matrix embedded in various metal bonds(Soft/Medium/Hard etc). great for light even removal from the concrete surface, removal of topical coatings, high spots, in most cases a first stage solution. Shot Blasting-Shot blasting works much like sandblasting. A blast wheel spinning at high speed throws steel shot at the concrete where it profiles the floor. A vacuum system then draws the shot and concrete dust off the floor. The heavy shot is recycled and the dust is draw into the vacuum. Shot blasting is common form of preparation for large horizontal concrete surfaces. Scarifying-Scarification works by using steel and or carbide star shaped cutters mounted in rows with several rows around the perimeter of a rotating drum. The cutters come in several sizes and variations for different applications. With this drum machines can remove between 2 mm to 5 mm in a single pass. Scarifyer's are most often seen in the road construction business. They can be used for the removal of asphalt roads traffic lines, grinding down high spots and grooving the surface. Scarification is very effective in removal of old coatings and resurfaces. All our services are executed with the highest safety procedures and with years of experience in the industry, the job will be done correctly and efficiently.
