Kominos Wines grows, makes and bottles on the high altitude Granite Belt (near Stanthorpe). We attribute our quality and success to our hands on contact with all facets of the production process, and of course our love of wine.

Established in 1998 by Spanish couple, Tom and Cath Jimenez. At the time their vision to experiment with alternative varieties was iconoclastic for the region – a tradition continued today at Ridgemill Estate. Fast forward to 2004, leading Brisbane project manager, Martin Cooper, was contracted to manage the development of the Queensland College of Wine Tourism. While building the college, he’d developed a love for the landscape, the lifestyle and the wines of the Granite Belt. During his opportunities to explore he stumbled across Emerald Hill. Martin was drawn to its natural beauty and the great promise of its wines. Seven days later the Cooper family purchased the property. We endeavour to minimise our intervention in the winemaking process, at the same time we stand by our promise to you, to create wines that have elegance and finesse.

Michael and Lucille are well-known Granite Belt tourism operators, having owned and managed several businesses in the region. Whether travelling for business or pleasure, guests who stay at the Granite Belt Motel, often return time and time again, taking advantage of the great location, comfortable surroundings and good old-fashioned friendly hospitality. Our philosophy is that guests are not just visiting the Granite Belt, they want an experience that they will not forget. The Stanthorpe and District Historical Society has operated the Stanthorpe Heritage Museum since 1970. The collection is maintained and presented by members of the Society.
