I am angry and I hurt all over, inside, and out. Will you hear me? Can you see me? I am my family’s secret, an embarrassment to be ignored. I didn’t do anything wrong! Yet I pay through your silence and derision. Can I ever feel safe? Will I ever trust someone? What is love and what does it feel like and look like? Will you hear me? Can you see me? I am angry because I am broken, but I didn’t do anything wrong! They did this to me, and they moved on! Can you show me how to look forward to a life I know nothing about? For without my trauma, who and what am I? Can you see beyond my tears? Will you walk with me in darkness – can you hear me; can you see me?

I have been a patient of Jenny’s for over a year, we meet fortnightly over zoom. Jenny is helping me accept my diagnosis of OCD, ADHD and cPTSD. Our focus is me accepting that my trauma is real. We unpack and identify my triggers and the relationship between triggers and my reactions: I don’t want to continue sabotaging my relationships, particularly with myself! This practical, and non-condescending approach has “let” me let my husband “in”, and will most definitely preserve the relationship I have with my children. Jenny is a unique counsellor and I realised early on, I didn’t have to wear my “perfect person” mask for her. She is the first counsellor I have been connected with, that has genuinely added value to my life! Thank you Jenny!

Have recently moved to Jacobs Ridge and in this regard we looked into contacting a local doctor. Attended the local medical centre at Ormeau Village in Eggersdorf Road and was lucky enough to meet up with Dr Shafi Khan who not only took care of my medical condition but arranged for a blood test, x-rays and a CT scan on the same day. What great service! After 23 years of having a lovely doctor at our last location we thought it was going to be extremely difficult to meet someone of the same calibre but Dr Sharif Khan met all our expectations. He is a delightful individual to deal with, reacts quickly to your health questions and we would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone. We consider ourselves very lucky to have discovered him and have the utmost faith in dealing with him in the future. It is also a bright, happy and pleasant medical centre with the girls on the desk Chey and Korina who complete the picture. Thank you Dr Khan for all you have done for me!

I am a Counsellor, providing individual, couple, and child counselling services online and in-person, with a background in Education and Psychology. I have over 10 years of experience working within an Attachment Theory framework. I assist holistically by incorporating interventions such as person-centred, Narrative Therapy, CBT, Trauma-informed, and Play Therapy. I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, child and adolescent issues, postpartum support, and couples counselling. I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) which regulates Psychotherapists and Counsellors codes of ethics and conduct and I regularly participate in clinical supervision.

Dr Stacey Ler is a local GP who grew up on the Gold Coast. She is a dual-scholarship recipient and a local graduate from Griffith University with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci) degree. She was the first student in QLD to have obtained guaranteed entry for her medical studies through the Griffith Connect Guaranteed Admission Scheme. She has previously worked at the Gold Coast University Hospital and received several Commendations for Outstanding Performance during her hospital training and was also nominated for Junior Doctor of the Year in 2018. Dr Ler is a strong advocate for General Practice on the Gold Coast, serving as a GP representative on several leading committees, including the Clinical Handover Committee at GCUH, Gold Coast Public Health Network (GCPHN) Clinical Council Chair and Primary Health Care Improvement Committee (PHCIC). She was Director for General Practice Gold Coast in 2022. She has recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Travel Medicine with James Cook University in 2023, receiving the Travel Health Advisory Group Medal for receiving the highest grade point average. She also completed the International Society of Travel Medicine’s Certificate of Travel Health and Graduate Certificate in Women's Health at the University of New South Wales in 2024. She is a member of the Australian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM).
