About Advanced Orthopaedic Casting
Nicola Nehmelmann is a Certified Orthopaedic Cast Technician with 12 years experience in the fracture clinic at Cairns Hospital and five years casting privately. Nicola is a Fellow member of the Orthopaedic Cast Technologists Association and is actively involved with training programs, conferences and work shops. Advanced Orthopaedic Casting particularly specialises in the application of Waterproof lightweight fibreglass casts, this means the patient can swim and bathe whilst completely submerging their cast under water, the skin is washed clean therefore no perspiration or dead skin cells build up resulting in a reduced cast smell and a more comfortable cast experience. Advanced Orthopaedic Casting realises that some patients are unable to mobilise and travel even small distances without discomfort. Let Nicola the Orthopaedic Cast Technician come to you in the comfort of your own home, aged care facility or hospital to apply/change your cast. Advanced Orthopaedic Casting is a provider for Workcover and DVA. The service is not covered by private health funds or Medicare. Patients requiring a cast will need a referral from their GP.

Application of Plaster casts, Fibreglass casts and Waterproof casts.
Prefabricated removable wrist splints, moonboots, off loading knee braces, crutches, shoulder immobilisers, weight bearing cast shoes, knee splints and neck collars, range of movement knee and elbow braces and smaller items such as elasticised stocking, arm slings, bandages etc are also available. Other items required can be ordered and delivered in three days.
