KVA (Kilo-Volt Ampere) or apparent power is the measurement of power including the power factor. Generators are sized generally with a 0.8 PF.  i.e 1000Kva Generator is rated at 800Kw

Standby is the application where the generator is only used for emergency or back up applications. Prime application is where the generator is to be the primary source of power.
