Bunnings Doncaster

This morning we hired a van from Bunnings Doncaster for 2 hrs. We left the store at 8.26am. The hired shop staff told us that if we cannot return in 2 hrs’ time, we had to call them before 2 hrs to tell them we will be late. And they told us that the next booking is at 1pm. By 10.10am we realised that we cannot complete the job in time to return by 10.25am, so we called them n they threatened reporting police if we do not return by 10am. We explained to them the conversation we had with the hired staff at the time of booking and check out. They denied what they said I. E the next booking is 1pm. When we finally returned the van at 11.15am we will charged a penalty of two hrs more n a fuel charge of $14. On top of that they warned us that we will be banned from future hiring of their vehicles. Do u thinking by slapping us with penalty and banning us from future hiring of their vehicles is fair to us? We felt very distressed over this unethical handling of customer.
