About Domestic Violence Service Cairns
Domestic Violence Service Cairns work to provide counselling services to those affected by violence in a comfortable environment. It is no secret that domestic and family violence often take place ‘behind closed doors' with the victim left feeling unsafe in their own home. Our counsellors understand that it is difficult for those who are, or have experienced violence to come forward as they may feel isolated, ashamed or too afraid to speak. With this in mind we aim to create a comfortable environment for people of abuse to find refuge and support. Our counsellors can help through the process of getting a protection order, crisis intervention, and information and referrals. Our counselling services are free of charge, and are available to adults, children and youth. While appointments are preferred they are not necessary in the event of an emergency. Call Domestic Violence Service Cairns today to arrange an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is DV?
Domestic violence and family violence is abusive behaviour used by one person in a relationship to dominate and control another. The abusive behaviour generally has a pattern to it and is repeated. The result is that the person subjected to the violence lives in fear and intimidation. In some cases, the abuse may continue even after the relationship has finished.
