About Hervey Bay Turiya Yoga Centre
The Hervey Bay Turiya Yoga Centre has been operating since 1973. Turiya yoga combines classical Indian yoga and Tibetan Kum Nye yoga. The Indian yoga uses hatha - asanas (special physical exercises) and pranayama (special breathing exercises) for the body & raja - practices for the mind. Acu-yoga using acupressure points and hatha yoga is also utilized. Kum Nye uses special physical and psychological body-mind practices and breathing. Relaxation and meditative practices are an integral part of Turiya yoga. The fees are $12 standard and $10 concession. A time-table can be obtained by emailing rodneydudgeon@aapt.net.au. Classes are held on Tuesday at 9:00am as well as Thursday and Saturday at 9:15am. There is also a evening class on Wednesday at 6:00pm. Participants can arrive up to 15 minutes before the class. Participants need to bring a medium size towel or mat to place on the carpeted floor. Clothing is whatever is comfortable. A water bottle may be brought. The yoga studio is a separate building at the rear of our double storey home. The grounds are environmentally aesthetic. The centre is located at 91 Long Street, just to the right of the intersection with Inman Street. The ocean is about 50 metres down Inman Street, where the Point Vernon Cafe is located on the Esplanade. It has delightful home-made food.
