Where are you located?

We are a mobile business located on the Gold Coast. We tutor from your home or in local libraries. All group tutoring sessions happen at local Gold Coast Libraries.

What age do you cater for?

We cater for children from Pre-Prep (4 years old) to Year 10.

How does private tutoring work?

Accepted Answer

All our private tutoring sessions run for an hour and are extremely personalised. Tutoring programs are crafted specifically for your child’s individual needs. Your child will have targeted learning goals that are in line with their needs as well as the Australian Curriculum. Your tutor will regularly run formal and informal assessments to determine appropriate next steps in your child’s learning.

How does semi-private tutoring work?

All our semi-private (group) tutoring sessions run for an hour and have a maximum of 4 children. All children have their own learning goals and objectives, but, as they are part of a group, they learn with and alongside other students and engage in group and team learning games and situations.

Do you offer school readiness classes?

Yes! We have developed a School Readiness program which runs during the school day in local libraries.

Do you offer NAPLAN support?

We absolutely do! We offer NAPLAN support in both private and group sessions.

What is the difference between a regular tutor and your teacher-tutors?

Teachers have university training and years of experience in education. They know the foundations of how to teach and use assessments effectively to target student learning goals. A tutor on the other hand, is not required in Australia to have any formal training. Remember, just because someone knows a topic or subject, doesn’t mean they know how to effectively teach it!

Do your teachers use Evidence-Based programs?

Yes, we absolutely can use evidence-based programs! If you are after a specific program or are after evidence-based only learning activities, please discuss with us first so we can organise a teacher who has had training or experience teaching that program.

Are any of your teachers Sounds-Write trained?

Yes! Our Founder, Dominique is a Sounds-Write Practitioner. She runs both private and small group sessions.

Question 10

What types of feedback do you give families?

Accepted Answer

We give regular feedback to parents including, check-in phone calls, a quick chat at the end of every session, as well as an end of term report. We do this so you always know how your child is tracking and their learning goals.

Do you offer free trials or assessments?

Due to the limited spaces, we do not offer trial sessions or assessments. You are required to sign up for a whole term when you join Hop Skip Jump Learning.
