With a deep understanding of tennis psychology and tactical theory, I can help players develop their mental game - something which is often half the battle for maturing players. My coaching philosophy is in line with the modern 'mechanics over technique' approach - understanding that everyone is built differently, hence the importance of complimenting a player's natural dynamics with consistently executable swing patterns that fall within the range of acceptability. As a South Coast and Nationals junior player, I was coached by world renown coach Gavin Hopper (former coach of Monica Seles and Mark Philippoussis) and spent time training in Florida at the Nick Bollettieri International Tennis Academy. I'm a Level 2 accredited tennis coach and squad trainer at TSS (The Southport School) with a passion for teaching, instilling discipline and guiding players towards achieving realistic goals. I'm able to hit at a UTR 9-10 level, although being 37 years old, I no longer play tournaments. After a short hit to analyse a player's game for the first time, I can decide what portions of lessons should be focused across three different types of exercises - refining mechanics / technique, improving footwork / movement and finally drill-based repetition tying the two together. Depending on the player's goals & level, tactical and psychological theory can be introduced. Tennis-based fitness training can also be covered, however it makes sense for a player to manage their ongoing fitness training themselves where lesson time is limited. Professional video analysis of player's swings can also be an insightful tool for developing players. Private lessons or hitting sessions can be held at the courts where I'm based in Southport (court hire included) or at your private court on the Gold Coast. I'm able to supply balls & equipment at private courts if required.
