I bought earrings which had a certified valuation. Upon receiving the earrings and showing my jeweler, he said they weren't worth anywhere near what the valuation stated and sent me to a valuer in Melbourne. The valuation came in at $5550 BELOW the one that they supplied. They then told me to send the earrings to another of their valuers in Sydney even though they are in Qld?) and this valuation came back $2210 less than the original valuation but with the wrong diamond colour. When I pointed out that I was misled with the information, I was told that the original valuation was "an opinion" and should not be used as a guide for purchasing. If this is the case, why include a photo of the valuation if not to mislead the consumer? I was just with my jeweller and filled him in. He laughed when I told him the Sydney valuer put them as an G-H colour while both other valuers put them at J-K. That's a huge difference. The excuse was the clarity made them look different. Really? Never again!
