About JLG Counselling

We work together to look forward and create the space needed to move forward, in your own time and in your own way. Professional and experienced in grief, abuse and Trauma - PTSD, drug and alcohol addiction, anxiety and depression, and relationships. A client perspective of Trauma This thing that they call Trauma. I didn’t do anything wrong! Will you hear me? Can you see me? I am sitting in the darkness, peaceful but alone. It’s not peaceful and my body tells me otherwise. My tears blur what I try to see, so I can’t make sense of it. That critical voice tells me that I am not worth it, and I deserved it, because I am bad. I am screaming and nobody hears me. I am angry and I hurt all over, inside, and out. Will you hear me? Can you see me? I am my family’s secret, an embarrassment to be ignored. I didn’t do anything wrong! Yet I pay through your silence and derision. Can I ever feel safe? Will I ever trust someone? What is love and what does it feel like and look like? Will you hear me? Can you see me? I am angry because I am broken, but I didn’t do anything wrong! They did this to me, and they moved on! Can you show me how to look forward to a life I know nothing about? For without my trauma, who and what am I? Can you see beyond my tears? Will you walk with me in darkness – can you hear me; can you see me?

I have been a patient of Jenny’s for over a year, we meet fortnightly over zoom. Jenny is helping me accept my diagnosis of OCD, ADHD and cPTSD. Our focus is me accepting that my trauma is real. We unpack and identify my triggers and the relationship between triggers and my reactions: I don’t want to continue sabotaging my relationships, particularly with myself! This practical, and non-condescending approach has “let” me let my husband “in”, and will most definitely preserve the relationship I have with my children. Jenny is a unique counsellor and I realised early on, I didn’t have to wear my “perfect person” mask for her. She is the first counsellor I have been connected with, that has genuinely added value to my life! Thank you Jenny!

Not one for leaving reviews however I feel that when you come across someone in our crazy lives these days..that can help it be LESS crazy then you need to tell others about it. Jenny has been that person. Her insight empathy and expertise have been instrumental in my road to recovery and it s been a pretty rough track. She actually listened and I knew right away I had made the right choice. Guess that comes with years of experience and a knack for understanding what strategies to take. I am truly grateful for the positive changes I've experienced and would not hesitate to recommend her. Thanks for being there Jenny.

In our year or so of working together, I have found Jenny to be a very compassionate, dedicated, friendly, and skilled counsellor. She has made me feel comfortable, understood, and supported throughout our sessions together; Jenny has truly taken the time and effort to build rapport with me in this therapeutic relationship. I face a number of challenges in life as a young woman – Jenny has provided me with valuable guidance, advice, and practical tools/skills drawn from her own life experiences as well as her professional training. With Jenny, I have never once felt judged, overlooked, or unsafe. When Jenny learned of my curious nature, she supported it by providing appropriate information and resources for my questions, and overall has supported me to maintain self-confidence and motivation as we work toward each goal. I feel Jenny interacts with me in an empathetic, genuine way, and I am very glad to be working with her.

I have worked with Jenny for twelve months, during that time I found Jenny actually listened to me, she was caring and articulate. Jenny had lots of practical soloutions but also challenged me when I needed to be challenged. She was very honest with me. I definitely could recommend Jenny to anyone who is needing and encouraging hand. She has a been a real support and life changing counsellor. I owe her so much for helping me not only find my out of my crisis but completely grow and heal through it. Jenny is astounding and deserves far more than I could say in words!
