Kate Washington MP

Kate Washington MP is the first woman to represent the electorate of Port Stephens in the Parliament for the Australian Labour Party. Ms Washington is also a Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Shadow Minister for the Hunter. In addition to this, she is also Member of the Legislative Assembly. Ms Washington is very passionate about mental health issues, particularly for the youth. Being a lawyer and a devoted mother of three children, she supports efforts for improving access to vocational training and TAFE. One of her other goals is ongoing support for victims of domestic violence, people with disabilities and low income families, especially in rural and regional communities. Ms Washington believes in the huge potential of Port Stephens and will use her time in the office to improve local infrastructure and affordable housing.
