Frequently Asked Questions
Is legal aid free?
One-off legal advice and Duty lawyer services are free of charge. If you need ongoing legal representation you will need to apply for a grant of legal assistance. If you are successful in your grant of legal application you will need to pay a contribution fee. The standard contribution fee is $120. If you are experiencing severe financial hardship this contribution fee can be waived.
