About MJ Innovative Landscapes & Excavation

MJ Innovative Landscaping & Excavations is a family-owned and operated business based in Newrybar. For over 50 years, we have been providing residential and commercial landscaping services to clients throughout the Northern Rivers. Mark Mundweil is our 3rd generation business owner. His grandfather started the enterprise in the 1960s. Over the decades, we have earned a stellar reputation for providing top-quality work, friendly service, and competitive prices. Mark holds a Structural Landscaping licence and has extensive experience in all aspects of the trade. He has also studied agriculture, horticulture, and permaculture. Depending on the project size, Mark works with a team of certified experts to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget. He also has the equipment needed to carry out certain earthmoving tasks, including Bobcats and tipper trucks. Giving you what you need and want is our top priority. To accomplish this, we will meet with you to talk about your stylistic preferences and requirements. Whether you like it simple or exotic, we can create your ideal landscape. Supporting our economy is something we value as well. That is why we use Australian made and sourced products in all our projects. Doing so helps us hit two birds with one stone: delivering high-quality work and helping local businesses flourish.

We're extremely happy with the work we had done recently! We had our steeply sloping back yard levelled, and a rock garden put in. Mark's qualifications and years of experience really showed. His knowledge of plants, soils and rocks was excellent. He was great to work with, and very careful with the job. When an east-coast low weather system halted work for a while he made sure the fill we were to use was covered securely with huge tarps, and that erosion protection/ sediment fencing was in place. He also visited the site during that time to make sure all was well, and kept in contact with us via text. He had great ideas, and also worked with our ideas to give us the look we wanted. The finished product is wonderful: our back yard has been transformed. We couldn't be happier!

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep can a mini excavator dig?

It depends on the weight. Those weighing up to 2,700kgs can dig as deep as 3 metres. Minis that weigh between 4,500 and 5,400kgs can go as far as 4.2.

What happens to garden waste after collection?

These go to a processing facility where they will be converted into compost or mulch. They need to pass Australian standards first before being sold as fertilisers to farmers, parklands, and communities.
