Northern Pride Rugby League

Northern Pride is a Rugby League Football Club that exists to provide opportunities and pathways for Far North Queensland locals to progress to the elite level from their own backyard. We have a proud history. In 2010, the Club defeated the Norths Devils to win the Intrust Super Cup for the first time, while in 2013 they won the Intrust Super Cup minor premiership for the first time ever. In 2014, the Pride enjoyed its greatest ever season, winning the minor premiership for the second year in a row, before going on to claim success in the Intrust Super Cup Grand Final against Easts Tigers and then the inaugural NRL State Championship against VB NSW Cup premiers Penrith Panthers - an unprecedented treble. As a testament to the strength of Rugby League in Far North Queensland, the club's 'Growing the Future Now' ethos was shown to be successful when 95% of the 2010 premiership side, and 90% of the 2014 premiership side, originated from Far North Queensland. The Pride also runs a highly successful junior Academy program, which has seen youngsters such as Ben Hampton (Melbourne Storm) excel at NRL level, while also creating pathways for senior players including Hezron Murgha, Joel Riethmuller, Ethan Lowe (all North Queensland Cowboys), Blake Leary (Manly Sea Eagles), Davin Crampton (Gold Coast Titans), Shaun Nona (Melbourne Storm) and Graham Clarke (Canterbury Bulldogs).
