Frequently Asked Questions
When are orthoses used?
Sportspeople are often prescribed foot orthoses by their Podiatrist to help maximize their performance, as well as address any underlying mechanical problems with their foot function. However, people of all ages (from children to seniors) with a variety of foot or lower leg problems also wear orthoses.
What type of orthoses?
Foot orthoses fall into three broad categories: those that primarily attempt to change foot function, those that are primarily protective in nature and those that combine functional control and protection. If shock absorption is a primary concern, cushioning orthoses will be prescribed by our Podiatrists to provide protective padding and absorb shock during walking and running.
