Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Podiatrist do?
Podiatrists are specialists in foot structure and the treatment of conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs. They often treat sports injuries, corns and callous, fallen arches to high arches, growing children’s feet and they perform limited surgical procedures.
Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?
The short answer is no, however if you have a Department of Veteran Affairs gold or white card you will need a referral to be covered by Veteran Affairs. Your GP may find you eligible for a Medicare referral if you have a chronic (or terminal) medical condition. This is covered under Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) or (EPC) Enhanced Primary Care referrals.
