“Matt diagnosed a failure in our 20 years old Hitachi ducted air conditioner when others wouldn't, despite me wishing to ensure there was no simple fix: no, replace it: old and Hitachi has no spares for that anyway. Matt, persevering, found that it had a circuit board component 'overtemp' , which was no longer there (shorted momentarily by a bug?) and fixed that with a reset. (Separately I found access interstate to spares anyway though as yet unneeded). Because replacement means pulling down one room's ceiling for access, the loss of the air conditioner until repair and the very high total cost, we now have a chance to assess in slow time what next we need to do and when. His skill and patience in diagnosing this while busy elsewhere indicated not only his interest in his work but also in the outcome for the owner. Many thanks Matt and Allchin.”
