RSPCA Gympie Animal Care Centre has been helping to care for our animal friends for many years. We are part of Queensland's oldest, largest and leading animal welfare charity. Functioning as a Gympie dog and cat pound, we not only care for lost and found pets, but also pets needing a new home. Our facility is equipped to house lost pets as the council pound, as well as being a temporary care facility for animals ready for adoption. RSPCA Gympie Animal Care Centre helps to find new homes for more than 500 animals every year. We provide discounted pet microchipping and animal advice for new pet owners. We also have a variety of pet products for sale including flea and worm treatments, pet accessories and care products. Our main commitment is providing the best care for animal welfare in Gympie. Unfortunately this can involve investigating cruelty complaints, but also means connecting animals with loving homes through pet adoption. The Maryborough Animal Refuge and Boarding Kennels is situated on nearly 4 acres of lush green land. Located on the outskirts of Maryborough, just off the Bruce Highway, it is about a 5 minute drive into the centre of town. The Property comprises the following: - 16 Refuge Dog Kennels - 1 large yard and 2 smaller yards Refuge exercise yards - A Cattery that can house up to 12 adult cats - A Kittery that can house up to 10 kittens in a play area - A Quarantine area for cats and kittens when they first arrive - An Isolation Unit and yard, for animals that are in quarantine, are unwell or require some special treatment - 23 Dog Boarding Kennels, with three adjacent exercise yards - 10 Cat Boarding Pens - An Office/Reception area - Several sheds for storage and other activities - On-site live-in Caretaker The Maryborough Animal Refuge is a Not-For-Profit, registered Charity which was established in the late 1970s as a completely volunteer-run facility. Over the years, it has grown and expanded to include five part-time Managers. The Refuge still relies heavily upon volunteers to assist with the cleaning, dog-walking and maintenance. The Boarding Kennels brings in the finances that are required to maintain the Refuge side of the work. We are a “Low Kill” Refuge, with a euthanasia rate of approximately two animals a year, mainly due to significant ill-health or challenging behaviour that could cause danger. Euthanasia is the very last response after every other possible option has been explored. We are a group of volunteers and staff who are driven by our passion to rescue and rehome animals, and to educate our local community to become responsible pet owners. It is paramount that our animals are cared for in the most compassionate and caring way possible while they wait for their forever homes.
