Starting early and continuing long term will allow your child to fully experience all that the water and the swimming lesson experience has to offer. While swimming lessons may help to address safety issues, lessons will also continue to refine the strokes helping the child to become a safer more efficient swimmer, and of course lessons are a fun, healthy activity for children. HOW CAN I INTRODUCE MY BABY TO WATER AT HOME? For most parents, the family bath is probably the best and most convenient place to continue developing the affinity that many newborns have with water. This can begin once the baby is home and the umbilical cord has healed. Often newborns are bathed in a sink or counter top tub. The bathtub is another option and should be used at every opportunity. Fill it up with warm water, get in with your child and let them enjoy the full benefit. The baby doesn't even need to go under the water at this early stage. These early bath experiences should be free from stress and a lovely way to build rapport with the water. This is a special time for parent and baby and can allow additional bonding, even for dad! Welcome to our service we hope that your children enjoy their time spent at our centre as much as the previous children have had over the past 30 years. Our Assessment and Rating has just been released and we are very exited to have received an exceeding rating. Our educators, families and children are happy that all our hard work has paid off. Our children our most important people are happy and contented and that's what counts. Our centre director has been at our centre for 28 of that 30 years, so she has lots of experience in the after school care field. Our service is has approval from Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) to operate. Services are regulated by the office of Early childhood Education and Care under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and Regulations 2011. This service must meet the requirements relation to activities, experiences and programs, numbers of educator members and children and educator member qualifications according to the appropriate legislation. Our bus service collects children from Our Lady Help of Christians School in our School bus daily. Children are escorted to the bus that parks in designated parking bays within the school grounds. Children do not have to cross the road to enter our bus. A variety of supervised activities will be programmed for each day of After School and Vacation Care (eg.; painting; clay work; crafts; music; outdoor activities). Opportunities for unstructured and quiet play will also be provided, including areas for children to withdraw from all activities. The program seeks to foster self-esteem and confidence in children by including their own ideas into the planning and providing experiences that encourage children to negotiate and cooperate in small groups. Planned activities are also designed to reflect the multicultural and multilingual nature of our community.
