Beam offers a range of psychology and therapeutic services and support including assessment, counselling, family therapy, guidance and advice for children, young people and family groups. Our services are tailored towards the ages of 8-25. We have extensive experience in supporting problems children and adolescents are facing including anxiety, depression, autism, intellectual and learning difficulties, peer pressure and bullying, stress, drug and alcohol misuse, trauma, aggression, social relationships, family conflict and challenging behaviours. We are also NDIS registered and provide services to NDIS participants with an intellectual or mental health disability or impairment. Our existence is built on an idea. The solution was Beam - a service built on extensive knowledge in Psychology, Mental Health and wellbeing of children, youth and families. Our first practice opened in July 2016 servicing Newcastle and Lake Macquarie focusing on mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, autism and bullying. EDUCARE was established in 1999 by Educational and Child Psychologist, Dr Anne-Marie Youlden. It has since developed into a leading multi-disciplinary practice designed to bring many related specialist medical, health and educational services into one location for the convenience of families in the Hunter Region. The EDUCARE team consists of a wide range of highly experienced medical and health specialists, who all work together to empower our clients and their families. Our specialists include paediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and teachers.

We aim to help you to understand your strengths and weaknesses in a range of formats, including individual therapy, groups, and assessments. We offer individual therapy with experienced professionals that are focused on helping you to grow in the way you want and are aiming for. We also offer groups as a way to connect with others that are struggling with the same issues as you. Groups can be a more cost-effective way to receive the support you need and can be attended as a stand-alone treatment or as an addition to individual sessions you're attending (here, or with another Psychologist).

Clients can use this time to find reasons for why they are the way they are, and why they may react to certain situations in the way that they do. With time to slow down, and with the use of mindfulness techniques, these issues can be explored on a deeper mind/body level helping understanding and new information to be gained. Sometimes, people can see therapy as intimidating. They may feel unsure or uncomfortable about taking that first step towards facing their fears and reaching for personal growth. My hope is to provide a down-to-earth, relaxed and safe space for people to feel comfortable in. I want to help my clients not just function in life - but, thrive.
