We have extensive experience in supporting problems children and adolescents are facing including anxiety, depression, autism, intellectual and learning difficulties, peer pressure and bullying, stress, drug and alcohol misuse, trauma, aggression, social relationships, family conflict and challenging behaviours. We are also NDIS registered and provide services to NDIS participants with an intellectual or mental health disability or impairment. Our existence is built on an idea. Our first practice opened in July 2016 servicing Newcastle and Lake Macquarie focusing on mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, autism and bullying. At Man 2 Man Counselling my aim is to assist clients to discover the root cause of these issues and more. Within an environment of safety, understanding and support, clients are able to take time out from the pace of everyday life and explore issues that are affecting them personally. Clients can use this time to find reasons for why they are the way they are, and why they may react to certain situations in the way that they do. With time to slow down, and with the use of mindfulness techniques, these issues can be explored on a deeper mind/body level helping understanding and new information to be gained. Sometimes, people can see therapy as intimidating. They may feel unsure or uncomfortable about taking that first step towards facing their fears and reaching for personal growth. I help adolescents and adults to cope with Relationship difficulties, Anxiety and Stress, Depression, Workplace Stress, Adjustment Disorder, Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Disability. I provide neuro-affirming assessments, including autism and ADHD, for adolescents and adults. My special areas of interest include working with couples, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, trauma as well as men’s mental health. I have worked in Private Practice, Marriage/Relationship Counselling, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), the Primary Health Network, the NDIS and Out of Home Care environments. I use a warm and empathic style, and work collaboratively with people to develop therapy objectives and provide counselling to meet individual needs. In doing so, I equip individuals with the practical skills, tools and coping strategies to make positive changes in their lives. I focus on building relationships to support people.
