When you have an emergency, you need a comprehensive healthcare facility that puts your mind at ease, every step of the way. At The Friendlies Emergency Department, you will be assured of fast access to vital healthcare services, in a welcoming environment. When you choose The Friendlies you are choosing: Specialist-led emergency department Accredited Level 4 emergency department Experienced professionals with advanced training in emergency care New state-of-the-art facility Leading-edge medical technology It is easy to choose The Friendlies Emergency Department, as no appointment, referral or private health insurance is required, however, a gap fee may be payable (see our FAQs for more information) The Friendlies Emergency Department is led by experienced and compassionate emergency specialists, backed up by our emergency team who are trained in providing both adult and paediatric emergency services. Wait times are usually minimal, and we can send a discharge letter to your GP, so you can be assured of continuity of care. You will also receive a follow-up phone call the next day. Patients requiring an ambulance may be able to be brought directly to The Friendlies, simply by indicating their choice of hospital to the Queensland Ambulance Service.

The Bundaberg Friendly Society Medical Institute opened the Friendly Society Pharmacy in 1920 and purchased St Vincent's Hospital on Crofton Street in 1946. For more than 100 years The Friendlies has continued to provide not-for-profit healthcare services to the community.

The Bundaberg Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, delivered by IWC, provides you and your family with access to see a doctor for urgent, but not life-threatening conditions when you are unable to see your own GP.

At IWC (Indigenous Wellbeing Centre Ltd) we’re about more than just physical health. We’re about you. We understand that you’re more than just a name, a number, or a diagnosis. You’re a whole person with emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual and environmental needs. That’s why we’ve developed and cultivated a wide range of services, programs and partnerships and housed them under the one roof in our purpose-built, regional community health and wellbeing centres. IWC is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation and registered charity hosting services and partners which include, but are not limited to, Medical Practice (General Practice), Dental Practice, Other Medical Services, Physiotherapy (Pivot 21 Physiotherapy), Psychology and Counselling, Diet & Nutrition (Pivot 21 Dietetics), Other Allied Health Services, Gym, Midwife Services, Family Support and Home Care Services NDIS Local Area Coordination, Cultural and Community Services and Programs. IWC offers existing clients free transport to attend IWC appointments within a 7km radius of the IWC Health & Wellbeing Centre, and across the North Burnett. IWC is a registered charity and donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
