Cameron McKenzie is a National Dog Training Federation accredited trainer Certified in Dog Behaviour and Training. NDTF are the only accredited and nationally recognised Dog Trainer Certification programme in Australia. NDTF and their trainers are especially conscientious in keeping up to date with the latest research and science in all aspects of dog behaviour, training techniques and dog physiology. Cameron has spent years training and rehabilitating dogs with behavioural issues at Animal Refuge's here on the Sunshine Coast, and working with dogs and people in both group training classes and private consulting sessions. His passion for rehabilitating dogs continues to grow. Cam has recently been selected as one of the trainers for the Young Diggers Dog Squad Programme. The Young Diggers Dog Squad is helping to rehabilitate returned military service men and women who have suffered the mental and physical trauma of war, by training their own assistance dogs. At Young Diggers Cameron works with the veterans and their dogs and teaches them to become certified as handlers and assistance dogs. As well as educating people about dog behaviour Cam is also passionate about the importance of a healthy diet and its role in the physical and mental health of your dog. He's happy to offer advice about this to his clients. Cam is a deaf dog specialist and has developed a program for dog owners to better understand their deaf dog, including communication and training with hand signals. At Get Set Dogs we provide a balanced service which combines all the elements needed to benefit you and your dog's relationship. We offer walking, exercise and socialisation services to make sure your dog is getting enough mental and physical stimulation to help with issues associated with boredom e.g digging, destructive behaviour around the house, jumping, barking, reactivity towards people and other dogs. It may also benefit dogs with health and weight issues. We offer one on one training for specific issues. We tailor training programs for dogs with more serious behavioural issues such as fearfulness and aggression. We also offer obedience training. Our philosophy is based on rewarding the dog for offering correct behaviours rather than over- correcting a dog for unwanted behaviours. We teach you to become a better leader for your dog by controlling your emotions and remaining calm and quiet when handling your dog. We help create boundaries and simple rules for your dog to understand. Dogs are not people. They see the world differently to us. We educate you how to understand and communicate better with your dog and be able to read their behaviour to avoid unwanted situations from occurring or escalating. Obedience is one part of the equation but we also teach you how to create a strong bond with your dog through trust, play and leadership. You CAN be the leader your dog wants you to be.
