About
Welcome to Alice Springs Podiatry Alice Springs Podiatry is a specialised clinic which provides comprehensive diagnosis, management and treatment for all foot, ankle and leg conditions. We are very experienced in treating all aspects of podiatry including General Podiatry, Diabetes Foot Care, Sports Injuries, and Post-Surgical Rehabilitation. Alice Springs Podiatry has a special interest in heel pain, aching feet, shin pain, ankle pain, warts, ingrown toenails, bunions, and childrens growing pains. At Alice Springs Podiatry, we consider your entire posture when we talk about your feet. When your feet are out-of alignment, it forces other joints in your body to become out-of alignment. You may have noticed that you walk differently due to foot pain or other foot problems. A change to the normal walking pattern can lead to stress and strain in other areas of the body and will affect the bodys posture, balance and function. How do we treat? How we treat you at Alice Springs Podiatry will be determined following a thorough examination. A correct diagnosis will ensure the best treatment outcome. We use the latest techniques and technologies to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. We provide routine foot care which includes general nail care, and treatment of corns, callous & cracked heels. We perform ingrown toenail surgery & diabetes foot assessments. We provide video gait analysis to assess the function and posture of the feet, ankles and legs. We offer the latest 3D laserscan computer generated orthotics. These have proven to be extremely accurate, and both soft and rigid orthotics can be manufactured from foot scans. At Alice Springs Podiatry we offer various forms of physical therapy. Strengthening/stretching exercises, dry needling, acupuncture, deep tissue massage and joint mobilisation. Joint mobilisation is a technique used to ease away joint restrictions - think of it like massage for your foot joints! This improves the mobility around your joints by releasing connective tissue restrictions and restoring your joints to their correct position. Alice Springs Podiatry is the only clinic in Alice Springs which offers Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT). ESWT is a highly effective treatment for heel pain (plantar fasciitis), Achilles tendonitis, shin pain and other soft tissue injuries. ESWT involves the application of high energy acoustic waves to increases blood flow, collagen regeneration and stimulates the bodys own healing mechanisms. Alice Springs Podiatry stocks a range of supportive footwear. We fit and dispense appropriate footwear first hand to our patients. The footwear range allows a perfect fit for all foot types and shapes, including those hard to fit feet. Our range includes Dr. Comfort, Revere and Orthaheel Footwear. Take a step in the right direction and visit Alice Springs Podiatry. For appointments, phone 8953-8822 or come in and visit us at 1/61 Smith Street, Alice Springs (Corner of Smith Street & Ghan Road).

Frequently Asked Questions For Finding Doctors & Medical Centres Near Alice Springs
Can lifestyle changes impact the effectiveness of my treatment?
Certainly, lifestyle changes can play a significant role in the effectiveness of your treatment. Here’s how:
- Diet and Nutrition: Eating a balanced diet can support your body’s healing processes and overall well-being.
- Physical Activity: Regular exercise can improve many aspects of health, from cardiovascular fitness to mental health.
- Alcohol and Smoking: Reducing alcohol consumption and quitting smoking can have profound health benefits and positively affect your treatment outcomes.
- Stress Management: Learning to manage stress through techniques like meditation, yoga, or therapy can improve your quality of life and potentially impact your health positively.
Integrating these lifestyle changes, with guidance from your healthcare professional, can enhance your treatment effectiveness and contribute to better health outcomes.
How can I find out the cost of tests, medications and procedures before my visit?
When it comes to understanding the costs associated with your healthcare:
- Direct Contact: Reach out directly to the doctors or medical centres in Alice Springs to inquire about the costs of tests, medications and any procedures you may require.
- Insurance Provider: Consult your insurance provider to understand what is covered under your plan and what out-of-pocket expenses you might expect.
- Medicare Information: If applicable, check Medicare benefits for certain tests and procedures to gauge what financial support you might receive.
- Ask About Payment Plans: Some providers offer payment plans or sliding scale fees based on income, which can make healthcare more affordable.
Taking these steps can help you manage the financial aspects of your healthcare more effectively.
How can I find a doctor near me in Alice Springs who specialises in my condition?
Localsearch is a tool you can use to find healthcare providers in Alice Springs, offering a way to identify doctors who may be able to treat your specific condition. Here’s a simplified approach to make your search more effective:
- Utilise Localsearch: Begin by browsing through the profiles of healthcare providers in Alice Springs available on Localsearch.
- Examine Available Information: While detailed reviews might not be available, you can often find basic information about practices, such as the types of services they offer and their areas of focus.
- Pay Attention to Practical Details: Information about the location, contact details and possibly the hours of operation can be crucial in deciding which provider might be the best fit for your needs.
- Reach Out for More Information: Use the contact information provided on Localsearch to inquire directly with the doctor’s office about their experience with your condition if it isn’t clearly stated online.
This approach helps you leverage Localsearch effectively, focusing on the available information and direct communication to find a healthcare provider suited to your needs.
How do I talk to my doctor about concerns with prescribed medications, such as potential side effects?
Open communication with your doctor about your medication concerns is crucial. Here’s how to approach it:
- Be Honest: Start by being open about the side effects you’re experiencing. Your healthcare provider needs this information to help you effectively.
- Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask about the potential side effects of any new medication. Understanding what to expect can help you manage or even prevent some side effects.
- Discuss Alternatives: If the side effects are problematic, discuss alternative medications or treatments. There may be other options that can provide relief without the adverse effects.
- Follow Up: If you decide to adjust your medication or dosage, make sure to follow up with your doctor to report on how the changes are working for you.
What are the benefits of undergoing regular blood tests and procedures as recommended by my healthcare provider?
- Early Detection: Regular tests can detect problems before they become serious, allowing for earlier intervention.
- Monitoring Disease Progression: They help in tracking the progression of a disease, providing crucial information on how it’s affecting your body.
- Treatment Evaluation: Tests and procedures evaluate the effectiveness of current treatment plans, helping in making necessary adjustments.
- Preventive Care: They can identify risk factors for diseases, enabling preventive measures to avoid health issues in the future.
Undergoing recommended tests and procedures is a key component of managing your health proactively.
What should I expect during my first visit to a new doctor’s office?
- Introduction: Your first visit will likely start with an introduction to the doctor and their staff.
- Medical History: You’ll discuss your medical history, including any past conditions, surgeries, or significant health events.
- Discuss Current Symptoms: The doctor will want to know about any symptoms you’re experiencing.
- Physical Examination: Expect a basic physical examination to assess your overall health.
- Medication Review: Be prepared to discuss any medications you’re currently taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and vitamins.
This initial appointment is your opportunity to build a rapport with your new doctor and set the stage for your ongoing healthcare.
How can I effectively communicate with my healthcare provider about my symptoms?
Effectively communicating with your healthcare provider is essential for your care. Here are condensed strategies for a productive discussion about your symptoms:
- Prepare and Be Specific: Write down your symptoms, including details like onset, frequency, and triggers. Describe the nature of your pain or discomfort with as much specificity as you can.
- Don’t Withhold Information: Mention all symptoms, even if they seem unrelated or embarrassing, and discuss any health concerns or fears you have. Your healthcare provider needs the full picture to provide the best care.
- Ask Questions and Seek Clarifications: If something about your condition or treatment plan isn’t clear, ask for an explanation. It’s important that you fully understand your health situation.
- Update Your Healthcare Provider: Inform them about any changes in your symptoms or if you experience new ones after your appointment. This information might necessitate adjustments to your diagnosis or treatment.
These steps ensure that you and your healthcare provider have all the necessary information for an accurate assessment and an effective treatment plan.
