Newcastle Paediatric Occupational Therapy provides a nurturing and supportive educational environment, targeted toward children suffering from a psychological, physical or developmental condition. Based in Floraville, we offer specialised treatment that is focused on developing the skills children living with these conditions need, to participate more actively in daily life. In conjunction with assisting children with developmental, psychological and physical conditions to lead happier, healthier lives, we also educate families on how to live with and modify their lives to accommodate the particular condition. The services we offer include paediatric diagnostic assessment, sensory profiling for children with autism, assessment of muscle tone and muscle coordination disorders, neurodevelopmental treatment, handwriting assessment and support for optimising school performance. To perform Newcastle paediatric therapy more effectively we have a fun, dynamic room with a trampoline, rock climbing wall and trapeze. We also tailor our treatment to suit each child, making it fun and interactive. Registered Occupational Therapists and a member of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists, our practice strives to provide the highest standard of therapy available for children with physical and mental conditions. As a Registered Nurse practising craniosacral therapy at an advanced level for 23 years I have a strong ethos about caring for people in our community. From newborns two adults struggling with vestibular dysfunction, post traumatic stress syndrome, and learning challenges, I am committed to understanding the root cause of the problem. Supporting people to bring mindfulness in to each of the steps we take, how we hold our body throughout the day and the behaviour that brings upon our experience. I have been getting chiro and massage monthly for over 10 years to maintain and keep headaches at bay from what I thought was muscle tension from subluxations from the excess curvature of my cervical spine. In recent times there's probably not been a day where I haven't had a headache. After the first treatment with Laura i hardly had a headache and after the 2nd treatment none at all. That's massive for me. This work is so gentle, nurturing yet deep and profound. I've had it all wrong what i've been doing to maintain my spine. Laura's treatment leads to true healing. Releasing the emotions stored in these tissues. I've already had some deep releases of stuff i never even knew about.
