About
Neami was first formed in Melbourne in 1986 and launched at the Heidelberg Town Hall in 1987. Neami’s founding members were John Cohen and Margaret Tomkins. In 1988, Neami was incorporated after two years of building alliances with local, carer, consumer, health service providers and community members. Neami sought to address the growing housing needs of people leaving hospital and identify the gaps in services for those experiencing mental illness and work with consumers to fill those gaps. Originally Neami was named North Eastern Alliance for the Mentally Ill. In 1998 Consumers and the Committee of Management sought to remove the emphasis of “mentally ill” and chose to use the acronym of Neami with the mission of “improving mental health and wellbeing in local communities”.

About
My mission is to empower everyone to lead a happy life through empathy-centered and emotionally supportive interactions! Hi there! My name is Ayesha Nhem, and I help people be the best version of themselves! I strongly believe that with empathy, active listening, and being genuinely interested in other people, we can help them cope with all emotional and behavioral problems. As a therapist, I use a non-judgmental approach to help my clients, both individuals and couples, face life’s conflicts and hurdles. I place a high value on personal development & wellness and focus on areas of depression, anxiety, mental health, trauma, relationship issues, and grief and loss. What sets me apart is my individualized care for each client. I know that each person has different life experiences, and so are their problems. That’s why I offer specific and individualized attention optimized for each client’s needs. If you’re overly stressed, going through a rough patch, or depressed, I’m here to help. But remember, you don’t have to be mentally ill or have a traumatic past to see a therapist. Getting support in things like having conflicts with your spouse or difficulty dealing with a busy life can help too. So if you want to improve, heal, deal with, or process anything, I’m here for you!

About
Working in private practice allows me the privilege of supporting many people, from all walks of life, presenting a variety of different issues and concerns. What therapy offers is a safe place to explore the past and look forward to the future, or to explore what might be happening in the present. I offer a therapeutic relationship, empathy, non-judgement, and I come from a stance of curiosity. I ask questions that help clients broaden their perspective which fosters new hope. I work collaboratively so clients feel empowered and can create a positive change in their lives. When working with clients I integrate a variety of different methods and interventions. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology. I hold registration with the Australian Counselling Association and hold additional qualifications and training such as, Narrative therapy, Trauma training, Youth mental health and many more. I am also a Mental Health First Aid Instructor which allows me opportunity to equipped people with the knowledge and confidence to recognise, connect and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.

If you are seeking a professional Psychology service with a bit of difference Walk different may be exactly what you need! Not only do we fully bulk bill with a GP referral (meaning we cost you nothing), we have five locations across the Illawarra and the best part about us is that we walk and talk. Yep, no offices for us. We prefer to run our sessions outside in the sunshine while we watch the waves crash on the beach or walk around the calm lake listening to the birds. We have a number of Psychologists on board who speciailise in anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, relationships, drug and alcohol issues, adolescents and children, grief, weight loss, motivation, self confidence, behavioural issues and many more presentations!

About
With Aristotle’s guiding maxim in mind, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”, Dr Nick Marsden established Marsden Clinical Psychology in 2013 as a holistic, diverse and community-based mental health service, in the heart of the Illawarra region. Today, Marsden Psychology is a dedicated team of over 20 experts and support staff who have been working in the field of psychological and neuropsychological services for over 20 years. Focused on our local community and its constant evolving needs, our approach has always been to research problems within the community, assess individual needs and develop action-oriented community-based programs, while taking up the challenge of keeping up to date with the best practices, assessment tools and latest discoveries in the field. Because we value and respect the needs of our community and actively seek feedback on our services, we have recently made some changes at Marsden Psychology. We have taken steps to move toward two specialised mental health clinics: the Kids Clinic, and the Stress and Trauma Centre. Both are located in the health hub of Corrimal, a central location for those in both the northern and southern suburbs of the Illawarra, and within reach of Campbelltown and Sutherland Shire.
