About Audrey J de Witte Counselling

Whenever you experience any kind of loss, grief will enter your life whether you want it to or not. Grief, and all its shades and variants, is the natural response to loss and it cannot be denied or ignored, instead grief needs to be acknowledged and its place in your life explored and understood. Audrey has over thirty years experience helping people in a variety of situations, and in particular with those who are grieving. Through her counselling practice she offers private, professional, down-to-earth, creative, respectful, individual, and common sense counselling. Audrey specialises in Grief counselling; grief that is associated with any kind of Loss. Audrey is also experienced in talking about death and dying, and other issues that arise at end-of-life. Audrey uses Narrative Therapy practices along with a mix of other therapies, as she doesn't believe in a 'one method suits all' approach. It is one of her priorities to create a counselling environment where people who seek her help feel comfortable and safe during the consultation.

We personally experienced Audrey's understanding, insight and action. Our son who was slowly recovering from severe depression knew he needed to speak out to remove the stigma associated with depression and mental illness. Audrey organised two public seminars, one at our Church, and later at the Club Forster auditorium. Professor Gordon Parker, the Executive Director of The Black Dog Institute and our son, Graeme, were the speakers at Club Forster, Audrey was the MC, and over 500 people attended from around the district. The Question and Answer times, moderated by Audrey, were incredible. Professor Parker congratulated Audrey for her initiative and believed the Seminar a great success. Privately he said to us "lives will be saved today".

I together with my wife and family have known Audrey De Witt on personal and professional levels over a period of twenty years. Throughout this time we have witnessed essential backgrounding skills and empathy required to pursue her chosen profession. Audrey's ability and capabilities in addressing requirements relating to both individual and collective members of the community are of the highest order.

Thanks Bill. I appreciate your words and support.

I have known Audrey for a number of years and appreciate her compassionate listening skills. She is one of very few to whom I feel I can speak freely and be heard non-judgementally, accepted as I am. She has a wisdom garnered from many years of being with people in times of sadness, difficulties, and helping them to find their own resources and move on.

Thanks Pamela. It has been, and is, a privilege to be involved in your life.
